Over the last 10 or so days of running the clinic we have seen a steady increase in the amount of doctor visits to the camps and villiages of this area (the Matara district). By Friday the 14th, we had decided that a mobikle clinic in this area was getting to be superflous and was probably motre useful elsewhere. We decided to send Dr Tony east to Ampara after speaking with contacts in that area who confirmed there was still a serious shortage of doctors there, especially in the more inaccessible southern areas. Dr Tony, Mark and the newest member of our team, Hannako, left on monday and are spending a day or two scouting the area before they are joined by a more senior Doctor to work with Dr Tony. Our friends at Volunteer Sri Lanka have promised us a doctor in a day ot two as a couple of English doctors, due to visit, have pulled out due to security fears. (For all friends of Tony, Mark and Hannako - please do not worry - we are completely confident that the situation is absolutely fine.)

We'll keep you updated on their progress.
