After another busy day shopping in Colombo's Pettah district (certain items are now difficult to get hold of, especially at wholesale or discounted prices), we are ready to depart on another aid drop to Ampara District. Once again, we have decided to supply more mosquito nets to the camps there. Following more research and consultation with other aid agencies we found no evidence of nets being delivered to this area. Discussions with the Pottuvil MOH have allowed us to identify where the net will be dropped. On top of large mosquito nets we have also purchased baby nets and sleeping mats for two other camps in the Pottuvil area with which we have connections with. We have rented a self drive lorry. Panni, Doug and myself will be making the delivery.

Full inventory:

  • 1000 double mosquito nets
  • 60 children's nets
  • 300 sleeping mats

Approximate cost of trip including lorry and diesel - $4200
