We are delighted to announce the appointment of Claire de Boursac, as the new Operations Manager of 'Aid Sri Lanka'. She is arriving in Sri Lanka on the 17th May.

Claire has great experience in the development field, working for Plan UK. She is coming over, initially on a six month contract, in order to co-ordinate the projects we already have up and running, report on them for you and develop future projects and partnerships.

She is being paid what amounts to a local wage which will provide subsistence but no more. She will continue in our practice of using the cheapest possible accommodation and transport - within reason.

Claire believes very much in community based development and empowerment. She is very keen to set up sustainable and longer term projects which should need little or no input from 'Aid Sri Lanka' in the future.

While Tom and Sam will continue to provide advice and assistance, they can no longer work full time on 'Aid Sri Lanka' as they have their own business matters to attend to. They will continue to provide the 'Experience Sri Lanka' office in Wennappuwa as a base for 'Aid Sri Lanka'.
