We are pleased to announce that a new pre-school in Thal Aramba is being build as a joint project between 'Aid Sri Lanka', 'Travel Aid-50' and 'PATA - the Pacific Asian Travel Association'. We at 'Aid Sri Lanka' identified the site and the need and set up the proposal. Travel Aid-50 initially agreed to fund the project. More recently, PATA have come on board as financial backers as well. Please click on this proposal if you wish to find out more about the project. In short - we intend to provide greatly improved facilities for the school's existing students, as well as providing space for the expansion of the school to cover for the destruction of several local pre-schools. For the information of our donors - although 'Aid Sri Lanka' is not providing any money whatsoever for the actual construction or post-construction support, 'Aid Sri Lanka' has provided the management and the stimulus for this project from day 1. That we were in a position to recommend this project to Travel Aid-50 and PATA, is because of the work we were doing on the south coast on your behalf. The attached photos all show the ceremony that the temple held to mark the start of the building. The delegation from PATA and Travel Aid-50 were treated to some local dancers and drummers as well as some fantastic singing and dancing from the pre-school children. The hospitality of the temple was wonderful and the pre-school teachers, Nilu and Anorma, were as usual, fantastic with the children.
