Our four vehicle convoy made it to Akkaraipattu at night, our heavy load slowing us down. Offered a police escourt from Ampara to ease drivers fears. Had to avoid wild elephants by the road in Maheyanganaya area. About to visit refugee camps and coastal areas to assess needs and distribute accordingly. More rain and flood waters also complication matters but should be ok. Have tractors to use if lorries can't pass some damaged roads. |
